Patrick Nayler

Paddy qualified, with distinction, at University College Hospital, London, Dental School in 1982 and took over the long established practice at 32 Brunswick Place in 1985. In 2001 he relocated the practice to Elms Lea where he continues to practise, ably assisted by his Practice Manager wife Tracy. Paddy is a longstanding member of The British Dental Association, British Society for Periodontology, British Endodontic Society and the British Society for Restorative Dentistry. He has a particular interest in preventative dentistry and works with a Zeiss microscope to practise minimal intervention. He has recently completed long-term courses in Restorative Dentistry and in Sports Dentistry. Paddy worked as a volunteer ringside dentist on the boxing medical team at the London 2012 Olympics. Paddy and Tracy have recently moved to Hurstpierpoint having lived in Brighton since 1983. They have two grown-up children, Jack and Rosie.

Tammy qualified at Birmingham in 1988, winning numerous honours and prizes. After a year as a house surgeon in the dental hospital there, she moved to Brighton and joined the Elms Lea practice in 2001. She regularly attends postgraduate courses, gaining the prestigious Membership of the Faculty of General Dental Practitioners in 1996.

Tammy has two daughters, Alexandra and Emma, and lives in Hove. Tammy lists her hobbies as ‘shopping, travel and food’! Tammy takes a particular professional interest in cosmetic dentistry and facial aesthetics including fillers and Botulinum Toxin injections.

Hannah qualified from Newcastle University Dental School in 2016. After graduating, she went on to work in General Practice in London, followed by a year spent as a Hospital Dentist in Kings College Hospital. Here she gained experience treating anxious patients and children, putting them at ease and ensuring they have a stress free visit to the dentist. Hannah has taken steps to further her professional interests within several fields. She is qualified to provide inhalation and intravenous sedation, and is accredited by the Society for the Advancement of Anaesthesia in Dentistry. As well as taking additional courses in occlusion and implant restoration, after passing both the Membership of the Joint Faculties part 1 and Membership of the Faculty of Dental Surgery part 2 exams, Hannah qualified to join The Royal College of Surgeons Glasgow. Hannah has recently had a paper published in the British Dental Journal on Multiple Sclerosis and its impact on dental care. Outside of work, Hannah enjoys travelling as much as possible, walking her dog, and satisfies her creative flair by taking pottery lessons

Dr Kazim Mahmood qualified from Guy's Hospital, London, where he was awarded the prestigious University of London Gold Medal finishing as the top graduate amongst the London Dental Schools.

Kazim (otherwise known as Kaz) is originally from the village of Pendle in East Lancashire and currently runs his own practice in Surrey with his wife Nina.

He has worked in NHS Private dental practices in Lancashire and Birmingham. He has also been Senior House Officer in Liverpool and Birmingham Dental Hospital with a focus on advanced restorative dentistry managing the care of patients referred in by general dentists presenting with a range of complex issues such as head and neck cancer, oral and maxillofacial trauma as well as developmental defects.

Kazim has recently completed specialist training and a master's degree in the field of endodontics (root canal treatments) at Guys Hospital and Kings College Hospital. This is an intense and really rewarding programme that affords him the opportunity to treat more complex cases referred into the hospital setting from general practice, work with some of the the world-leading clinicians in this field and also have involvement in the teaching of dentists of the future.

Kaz is happy to accept referrals in all aspects of Endodontics at Elms Lea Dental Care Brighton.

Eli qualified BDS in her home city of Madrid. She then took further diplomas in Endodontics (root fillings) and Prosthodontics (implants) before completing the three year Masters in Clinical Dentistry in Periodontology at the Eastman Dental Institute, London. Eli has settled in Brighton with her husband Riccardo, also a periodontist, and their puppy, Fiona. She combines periodontal and implant practice with clinics and further research at the Eastman.

Riccardo graduated from the University of Milan, Italy, where he later worked teaching undergraduate students and in General Practice. He moved to the UK in 2007 undertaking the three year Masters in Clinical Dentistry in Periodontology at the Eastman Dental Institute, London, graduating with distinction and obtaining a specialist degree from the European Federation of Periodontology. He is a registered Specialist in Periodontics. Riccardo lives in Brighton with Elisa, also a periodontist here, and their whippet, Fiona.

Nicky has been a Specialist Orthodontist for over 20 years and a Consultant Orthodontist at the Royal Alexandra Children's Hospital, Brighton since 2002.

Nicky studied dentistry at Guys Hospital, London and graduated in 1991. After completing junior hospital training posts in Restorative Dentistry and Oral and Maxillo-facial surgery, traveling around the world, working in Australia and vocational training in general dental practice in London, she was awarded the Fellowship in Dental Surgery of the Royal College of Surgeons of England in 1995. She started her postgraduate training in Orthodontics in 1996 at Bristol Dental Hospital, and she gained her MSc and Membership in Orthodontics, Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh in 1999. Her higher specialty consultant training was at Cardiff Dental Hospital and completed her Fellowship in Orthodontics, Royal College of Surgeons in 2001.

In her Consultant role in Brighton, she has extensive experience in training postgraduate dentists to become Specialist Orthodontists and Consultant Orthodontists and is an examiner for the Royal College of Surgeons Membership in Orthodontics. She also has a special interest in multidisciplinary treatments, working collaboratively with colleagues in other dental specialties such as Restorative Dentistry, Children's Dentistry and Maxillo-Facial Surgery.

She lives in Brighton with her husband and 3 children, and enjoys playing club level badminton, walking and her book group.

Rex is a very highly qualified anaesthetist who has dedicated many years to the practice of sedation alongside his post at the Royal Sussex County Hospital in Brighton. Rex’s gentle demeanor and immense experience are invaluable for our most nervous patients who benefit immensely from intravenous sedation for treatments.

Maxine joined the team at Elms Lea in 2016 and has 22 years’ experience in dentistry. After managing several large referral practices in central London, she moved to Brighton and joined Elms Lea because of its great reputation in the local area. She prides herself on ensuring a great patient experience and having a happy and motivated team. In her spare time to enjoys walks on the south downs with her husband and two cocker spaniels.

Eugenia recently joined the Elms Lea team as Lead Receptionist.

She arrived in Brighton in 2015 via a university program from Teramo in the Abruzzo region of Italy. She enjoyed her time in Brighton so much she never left.

With several years’ experience in customer care and hospitality she wanted a new challenge in her role at Elms Lea.

She enjoys putting the patients at ease and making sure they are relaxed and looked after as soon as they enter the practice.

Outside work she likes spending time on photography, nature activities, art and movies.
