What is Endodontics?

Endodontic treatment concentrates on the inside of the tooth. Most of Endodontics comprises of what is known as root canal treatment which enables you to keep natural teeth as a healthy foundation for chewing, biting and smiling for years to come.

Endodontic treatment becomes necessary when the pulp of the tooth becomes inflamed or infected. Our endodontist will carefully and precisely remove the inflamed or infected pulp and then clean and shape the inside of the tooth finishing by filling and sealing the space. For enhanced precision our specialist uses an operating microscope.

After root canal treatment by our endodontist, patients return to their own dentist (either at the Elms Lea practice or another practice) for the tooth to be crowned or otherwise restored.
