Endodontics

What is Endodontics?

endodontics

Endodontic treatment is treatment of the inside of the tooth. Most of Endodontics comprises what is known as root canal treatment. It enables you to keep natural teeth as a healthy foundation for chewing, biting and smiling for years to come.

Endodontic treatment becomes necessary when the pulp of the tooth becomes inflamed or infected. The endodontist removes the inflamed or infected pulp, carefully and precisely cleans and shapes the inside of the tooth and fills and seals the space. The degree of precision is enhanced by the specialist using an operating microscope.

After root canal treatment by the endodontist, patients return to their own dentist for the tooth to be crowned or otherwise restored to function.
